I don’t get the fascination with AR glasses. It feels sometimes like these tech guys just watched Bladerunner or even Demolition Man and thought “there’s some good ideas in there”.
I don’t think this is a build it and they will come situation. I’m sure Apple will continue pushing it but I don’t know how it makes financial sense.
These words bring me back to the days of the OG iPad and the discourse surrounding that. Nobody knew what it was good for, and just saw it as an oversized iPhone. It kinda was, but it was unexpectedly fun to use and eventually became quite useful.
I don’t personally think we’re anywhere close to this point but I imagine the objective is to eat the corporate laptop market. Outside of developers I think there’s a real appeal to giving business users an AR headset and a phone. You don’t have to worry about monitors, keyboards, headsets, etc. It’s significantly lighter and more mobile. Most of what business people do doesn’t need more processing power than a phone has. You could eliminate cubes and just have banks of seats with small desks. Plus imagine the productivity gains when you can literally watch the user’s eyes and prevent them from even looking at non-work items
Wow, I got really distopian with that really fast. Of course Apple and Meta are interested in it
Oof. That apple vision pro dollar did t pan out, huh?
And money. Lol
Great! I love Breakout. I wonder what it’s like as AR.
Imagine using your hands as the paddle. It’d probably be a pretty fun VR/AR game
Probably like squash.
