Marc Andreessen is predicting that at least one job is safe from the rise of AI: his own.

Marc Andreessen says that VCs may escape the rising tide of AI automation. On a recent podcast, he said the relationship-driven art of venture capital may make it one of the last remaining fields that people are still doing when other jobs are automated.

The scumbag known as Marc Andreessen is a right-wing accelerationist. He and his cronies, including Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, want to destabilize and eventually destroy nation-states so that everyone lives in corporatocratic city-states. These are the people who think late stage capitalism is a step in the right direction.

Thank you. He gets more normalized any time someone talks about this asshole and doesn’t mention his extremist and wildly unpopular views. He is a terrible person, and not enough people know why.

This article does a pretty solid job of explaining how horrible he is, though I’m sure there are better ones.

Yep he looks at the world and sighs and thinks he could lead humanity into a shining future but for one thing: the legacy structures dragging it down. He really believes he has all the answers but we’re so bogged down by our establishments that we can’t follow him. He’d love to wipe the slate clean. I’d fucking love to be on a desert island with him and three other people trying to establish a colony. He’d be so goddamn useless.

Venture capitalism? Man that dude is getting high on his own bullshit.

Science won’t be replaced by LLMs.

    Trades won’t be replaced.

Basically jobs that shouldn’t exist will be replaced. Middle management, (hopefully) C-suite, possibly assembly and customer service.

      This sums it up:

AI can’t tell you what’s true or not, so it can’t tell you when you’re wrong.

The term artificial intelligence is broader than many people realize. It doesn’t mean human-level consciousness or sci-fi-style general intelligence - that’s a specific subset called AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). In reality, AI refers to any system designed to perform tasks that would typically require human intelligence. That includes everything from playing chess to recognizing patterns, translating languages, or generating text.

Large language models fall well within this definition. They’re narrow AIs - highly specialized, not general - but still part of the broader AI category. When people say “this isn’t real AI,” they’re often working from a fictional or futuristic idea of what AI should be, rather than how the term has actually been used in computer science for decades.

      Literally, from the article:

Well of course owners aren’t going to replace themselves. They’re the owners, not the lowly workers. It’s like how owners exempt themselves from return to office mandates or how employees are fired if they find out you have another full time job yet owners “run” multiple businesses.

They don’t have to replace themselves. If LLMs can do the job (which is an open question) it will be outsiders who use LLMs to replace them.

The outsiders are still VC owners. Andressen’s company might be put out of business by another VC firm that uses LLM, but that happened all the time long before AI.

The problem is not people like him. The problem are newspapers publishing it as though it was important and people giving a shit about it as though he wasn’t a moron.

Are jackasses really a safe job? I know ChatGPT has been really happy and friendly recently, but it can still be a really effective jackass.

What do you think happens to all of us who can’t work when this magical genAI appears? You think I’m gonna sit on my ass and accept your authority? You think the world is? This is destabilizing alright. But not the kind that will bring your network states to life. Its the kind that destroys all civilization and leaves us picking at your bones for scraps.

They expect you to die of starvation, disease, and infighting. If you choose to lunge at them, they hope to have a network of automated weapons to drop the god particle on your peasant ass.

Once they no longer need your labor, you are an externality to them. A cost to be cut.

Yeah its gonna be a good long while before rods of god can be wasted on singular scrubs. They got the robot dogs with guns though. Still. Fighting a war against peasants is hard when they realize its going on. We’re far too many to deal with. Its why they spend trillions dividing the working class.
