The US couldn’t put down the Vietnamese or the people in Afghanistan despite the power of its military. Canada has a lot more resources than those two places……. US can raze Canada’s cities but you’d have the rest of Canada (which is massive) to contend with and a never ending insurgency. The US could maybe take Canada but it could never hold it.
