This is the kind of AI that will change the world, not the word salad machines that burn through massive amounts of compute to sound kind of intelligent. The ability to train an AI model to identify problems is incredibly useful, whether it’s sewer blockages or cancer cells.

I don’t think there will be a single year that stands out in terms of Linux adoption, but it’s definitely been accelerating over the past few years. I think in the next decade we’ll see Linux gain enough of a market share to be considered a mainstream OS.

It’s a nice distraction from reality, and it’s fun to comment and post and have people upvote or reply. Makes me feel a little less lonely. :)

650 years ago, the place I live was inhabited mostly by the Ojibwe (a Native American people), so I suppose I’d try to find some of them and try to convince them to not kill me and let me stick around long enough to learn their language. Then I could teach them some of my knowledge. Maybe by the time the Europeans come along they’ll be a bit more prepared.

If I can’t find anyone, I don’t like my chances of surviving for any significant amount of time. Maybe I could make it a few weeks foraging for food and fishing or something, but realistically I’ll probably end up starving.

“AI-powered” and “20 foot robots” are not phrases that should be used in the same sentence. Also, surely leasing an autonomous robot for $20k a month is more expensive than leasing a regular machine and hiring a worker or two to operate it. Construction workers aren’t paid anywhere near $240k a year, and you’ll need someone with an emergency stop button watching the autonomous robot anyways.

Nothing about that sounds particularly unsafe if you’re reasonably healthy, except maybe the restroom part if you really have to go and hold it in. I wonder if the unsafe nature from the sexual meaning of the phrase leaked over somewhat.

I agree with the first one, the second one is factually incorrect (agriculture is only 10% of human CO2 emissions even in the meat-hungry US), and I have no clue what Mass Effect is so I can’t comment on the last one.
