Nah, just say the plague will ravage the land, war will last for another seventy years, and you’re the only hope of salvation - that pretty much sums up the late 1300s. Then just get your followers off the battle lines, adopt a bunch of cats to keep the rat problem at bay, and practice basic sanitation and isolation - what we learned during COVID.
Within a couple of years, yours will be the only thriving community. Play your cards right, stay peaceful, prosperous, and show deference to the church and you’ll be pretty much set. Might even wrangle a sainthood if you play your cards right.
/s to all this of course… most likely I’d just use my extensive knowledge of porn and poetry to try and charm a noblewoman to take care of me.
Prophecy some major upcoming events, subsequently market myself as a saint, grab a comfy church position, sell indulgences, profit. Works in pretty much any era.
What if I’m on drugs?

A brief synopsis of Elon’s career:
If you’re looking to get to California, have your husband check out PG&E - they’re almost always actively hiring linemen at that rate - usually higher. You can make it here on $100k relatively comfortably if you’re smart with your $.
There’s still racism here, but it’s nowhere near what you see on the east coast - less institutional, at least in Northern California - this changes depending on how far inland you go. SoCal is considerably more tribal, and the LAPD has a bad history when it comes to race relations, but still not on the same level as WV.

I went to Coachella twenty years ago. It was more than enough.
Worst part was Perry Farrel… guy was already past his prime then, and his attempts to hit the high notes on old Jane’s Addiction tracks sounded like a mangy alley cat in heat. He kinda looked like one too.
That plus the shitty fairground venue with 110 degree heat stuck up in the asscrack of nowhere made it rank pretty much as the worst concert I had ever been too.
There are so many good venues in SoCal you can spend your $ at - Coachella ain’t one of them.
Old man yells at shower. News at 11.
Progressive who’s been here for a bit. The fediverse has definitely swung more left-wing recently - when I first started up two years ago there was a fair amount of conservative bs, libertarian tech-bros and russian bots - it was about a 50/50 split depending on what instance you were on.
The bot problem seems to have been largely dealt with now, and conservative voices have been more or less drowned out by the new influx of users fleeing twitter and Reddit crackdowns. Many are agreeing that the current administration is bad for everyone. There are a number of hard auth-left moral purity testers that kind of a pain in the ass that pop up from time to time.
Dude, that’s my bong.
I misread this as “Trumps pooping White House meeting with Netanyahu” and the thumbnail did not disappoint.
“It was thiiiiiiiiis beeg, Donnie!”
Agreed - actually came here to say this. The Saudis have been pretty blatant in how they time their pricing manipulation to American politics and economic trends. Like how oil prices stayed high even after COVID killed demand while Biden was in office, or how they flooded the market to try and kill the American fracking industry after Trump was elected the first time.
Expect another 2-5k trim when the EU announces its retaliation.
CA sales tax averages 10%. While it’s nowhere on the scale of the tariffs, it could offset the impact significantly if reduced or eliminated for goods coming from specific countries.
Additionally, the government of CA has enormous purchasing power. Directing where that money goes could serve to be a powerful tool in mitigating the trade war.
Plus, one element that most folks don’t think about is the financial weight of the CalPERS retirement fund. This organization controls a huge amount of investment money subject to state regulations as to where its invested. Opening up that revenue stream to select foreign companies could be a mighty tasty carrot.
Fair point. I’ve played it on and off for years now, and I still have no fucking clue where the game wants me to go (although it’s a lot better now than it used to be). The storyline is… complex to say the least, and the game doesn’t do much to drive you an particular direction. Progression is also lateral, not vertical, so while you have a wide variety of options and directions to explore, they can be shallow and overwhelming at the same time.
On the plus side of that, every time I come back, it’s like a new game, but with the same combat / movement that got me addicted back when it was nothing but grind.
The hero we wanted, but didn’t deserve
