Yup, but this is the world we got now. These ladies are risking more than I am, and that has me really considering what more I could do and what I’m willing to risk. We can mourn what we lost, but we can’t go back in time.
Still, she took a more cautious approach to climate activism until she retired in 2021. “As a working GP, I didn’t really want to do anything that was arrestable . . . Maybe I retired a bit earlier as part of my wanting to do more for the climate.”
In November 2023, she was arrested and charged under the newly introduced offence of interference with key national infrastructure, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 months imprisonment, for taking part in a so-called slow march on Waterloo Bridge.
I appreciate that they’re going into this prepared to get arrested. And now they’re like “fuck it.” It’s weird people reading thw article seem to get the impression these specific women have sat on their butts their whole lives. Am I missing something? What should these specific women do differently?
There is no cure for dengue. Patients in wealthier countries generally fare better than patients in developing regions with limited access to medical interventions like blood transfusions and places where waves of dengue patients overwhelm already-strained healthcare systems. Two dengue vaccines are available in some countries, but both have serious limitations in terms of efficacy and how long they confer immunity.
Here’s the linked article about the state of the vaccine: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jvacx.2024.100604
I guess he canonically dies in a videogame, which is a reason they might not bring him back
yeah thinking about my times on beaches, they tended to be areas lots of people hang out on. even when i visited the lakes, it was a spot with a bunch of homes along it.
But O’Brien said they don’t want their story to scare people away from the beaches. He has been going to beaches in that area his entire life and has only encountered quicksand twice.
I have never encountered quicksand in my life
and way too few breasts
Nut cheese and pea cheese - appetizing!
Does it have qualities that would make it useful replacement in cooking and baking, or is it a drink alternative? The archive link isn’t working for me, so sorry if this is in the article. I’m really curious.
Unfortunately, it’s the kind of role that’ll attract predators, even though I’m sure most of the people involved just want to do good. Like teaching and abusers and nurses and serial killing, etc.
Thank you! The wall in my brain keeping me from doing it is a bit smaller now
That sounds pretty cool, actually, that it.s protected against me breaking it. I’ve always got that worry
Is this something that’s relatively fool proof to do? I’m very good at imagining disasters. That’s the big mental block I got when I thought about dual booting before.
I’m somewhat open to the idea, but the thought of messing up and not having any computer other than my phone until i figure it out is tough to get over.
I can’t afford a new computer right now and tariffs meaning higher prices means I can’t anticipate affording one in the near future. My plan is to see where everything’s at when they stop doing updates. Unfortunately.
Polish! I never really thought about why she did it. That’s really neat! I’ll have to ask dad if that’s what inspired her to make them. We inherited them, and had a little stand, but she had a whole elaborate display I wish I could remember clearly.
We made pretty the eggs we would’ve boiled and eaten anyway. The week after easter we’d be all ‘dad, you ate the one i wanted to eat!!’ because we decorated it the prettiest so it was ours. It was incredibly rare the eggs didn’t get eaten. We also had hollowed out eggshells my grandmother painted that we’d put in a place of honor every year.
Does lemmy have a function to block words? if you can’t stop yourself from discussing it when you see the word, it might benefit you to not see it for a while. i’ve been there.
