I’m actually looking into this now with some hubspace lights I have. They seem to have disabled flashing from the bootloader so the only way to do this is with signed updates from the manufacturer. But I dont like the cloud-only method of control hubspace uses so it looks like…desoldering the original ESP32 and putting on another one thats been flashed with ravencore, ESPhome, WLED, or tasmota is what I’ll have to do.

  • This has been tested and proven time and time again. Google and Apple give apps a method to access the mic that the OS can allow or deny. This is what the apps are supposed to use.

Facebook doesn’t use that method for passive monitoring, only for active engagement. Don’t looks like it’s working when you go the use the thing and it’s disabled but it’s still listening to you.

If you must use such a social network, never ever ever use the mobile app. Use the website or don’t use the service at all.

  • Dude there’s probably a business in that. People typically just get hookers for that weird situation where a rich powerful man has to go to an event and bring a plus one, and he can’t find a woman who doesn’t hate him so he has to rent one by the hour.

Make it an app. Fuck it. Lets let the business majors ruin that too.

there is no setup and the instructions for a manual install keep getting me weird complaints from systemd about dependancies. It occurs to me that tackling this is error doesn’t make sense because it requires systemd to work and ultimately I want to run this on a diskless alpine linux install which doesnt use systemd.
