I think we are very much in agreement. I don’t read a lot of what goes on in Showerthoughts. I would rather let people sort out their differences. Several users reported the thread, meaning that they wanted a moderator to take action.
If someone prefers zero moderation then they will need to look outside of Lemmy.world.

It was kicked off with the above comment. rainrain asked a question. If we assume the best intentions, it is a reasonable question but it could be interpreted as being hostile.

No, but upon closer inspection the right one is probably a more faded version of the left one.
The middle is certainly different.

These numbers jive with what I have seen elsewhere but I didn’t check my sources too closely.
Im taking a train instead of a plane this weekend. I am flying on my return leg, but it’s a start to building comfort with travel by train.

This says New York to London:
is equivalent to 587 kg CO2e
So round trip would be 1174kg.
1174/6.1 = 192
1174/3.6 = 326
So you need to not eat 192 - 326 burgers.
The first source says Americans eat 1-3 burgers a week, so you might need to skip 2-6 years of burgers to equal the same pollution as your air travel.
New York to Florida would be 1-3 years, roughly.

I’m a mod here. While it’s not one of my favorites, it does follow the format pretty well. I try to use Rule 1 sparingly.
It’s a bad look to shutdown critics. I think the votes and comments are doing a good job of bringing perspective to OP’s opinion.
You can block entire instances. You should be able to find it in the settings in your Lemmy app. I know Tesseract and Voyager let you edit it. I think you can also filter by keywords.
I moderate showerthoughts.
I certainly don’t know everything but I’m very sure I can’t edit other people’s posts.
If a post is questionable, then I try to message people and talk it out. We are all human.
Some people wish we moderated more aggressively to keep the post quality higher, others, like yourself wish there was less moderation. I try to leave things up unless there is an obvious violation, I try to apply the rules fairly, I am human.
